Noble would be a big hit - Higham
By Elizabeth Hudson

Wigan hooker Mickey Higham believes Bradford coach Brian Noble could make a big difference to the struggling Warriors if he agrees to take over.

Higham worked under Noble with the Lions squad last season and would welcome him to the JJB Stadium.

"Brian is a good talker, he reads the game well and is a very good defensive coach," Higham told BBC Sport.

"Our defence is not good enough at the moment and that is what we need to improve most."

Higham, who made a close-season switch from St Helens via Bradford, is at a loss to explain Wigan's poor form.

They are currently rooted to the bottom of the Super League table with just one win from 10 games.

"We are training well but when it comes to game time there is something missing and I can't put my finger on what the problem is," said the 25-year-old Higham.

"We've picked up some injuries which have hampered us, but that isn't an excuse.

"What is most frustrating is that we have the makings of a good squad and we have shown glimpses of form but then we let that get away from us.

It is up to us as players to get ourselves out of this situation

"You can't give teams a 20-point start like we are doing now."

Wigan struggled in the first-half against Harlequins on Monday, committing a host of errors and conceding five tries.

Despite putting in more pressure in the second half, the home side found it difficult to break down the tough Harlequins defence.

"When you are down at the bottom, things don't come off for you but the Super League this year seems stronger than ever," added Higham.

"We are leaving ourselves with a mountain to climb too often by going behind so early in matches.

"When we do get the ball we are too tired to attack because we are doing too much defending and whatever coach comes in will have to address that.

"A new coach coming in means you get a lift. Hopefully that will happen sooner rather than later and we show what we can do against Huddersfield on Saturday.

"But it is up to us to get ourselves out of this situation."
