Radlinski hails influential coach
Kris Radlinski
Wigan and Great Britain star Kris Radlinski says new Warriors coach Ian Millward helped persuade him to turn down a move to rugby union.

The 29-year-old full-back rejected offers from Leeds Tykes and London Irish to commit his future to the Super League club until the end of 2007.

"Ian was a factor in my decision. He promised me good times and I had to be part of that," said Radlinski.

"I am sure in the next two years the club is going to win something."

Radlinski added: "There have been highs and lows at this club. This is a low at the moment. Watching, the last few weeks have been hard to take.

"But a big part of my decision was working with Ian. I probably only had five or six training sessions with him before I got injured but I still learnt so much."

Former Wigan team-mates Jason Robinson and Andy Farrell have already made the move to union.

Robinson switched at the end of the 2000 season and is currently on his second British and Irish Lions tour.

Farrell's move to Saracens this year was also a massive blow and without a host of senior players, the Warriors have slumped to 11 defeats from their 19 league games so far.

"Faz tried to contact me this week, as has Jason from New Zealand, but I have not particularly wanted to speak to them," added Radlinski.

"This was a decision I wanted to make for myself."
