Adrian Lam, who retired as a Wigan player at the end of last season, has been named as the Warriors' new under-21 coach. The 34-year-old, who will also have some input into preparing the senior side, replaces David Lyon.
"David's a very good coach and has been good for us," said coach Denis Betts. "He does have a full-time job though, and only worked part-time for us.
"Adrian Lam will work full-time and will be a great asset to the club."
Wigan chairman Maurice Lindsay added: "We thank David for his excellent contribution but we are lucky to have Adrian Lam on board next year.
"His international experience is invaluable, particularly as there is still uncertainty over (first-team coach) Mike Gregory."
Gregory has been absent from the club since the summer to undergo treatment for a muscle-wasting condition, leaving Betts in charge of first-team affairs.
