Grix began his career as a junior at Warrington Wolves |
Warrington centre Simon Grix has been ruled out for at least two weeks after suffering a severe mouth injury. Grix, 23, had a number of stitches after cutting his mouth in the 40-26 defeat by St Helens on Saturday and must now wait for the wound to heal. Wolves coach Tony Smith said: "It was a severe cut. Some of the stitching was done here but the more intricate stuff was done in hospital." Grix could miss the Challenge Cup semi-final against Wigan on 8 August. Smith added that they will not be able to rush Grix, who has played in 18 of Warrington's last 19 games, back into action. "It will have to be well healed before he can play because it's in a position where we can't protect it. He'll be a couple of weeks at least," he said. Meanwhile Wolves expect to have stand-off Lee Briers back from a hamstring injury for the Super League game at Huddersfield on Sunday but prop Adrian Morley and winger Chris Hicks will still be unavailable.
