Warrington Wolves caretaker head coach James Lowes has admitted he wants the job on a permanent basis.

Lowes was handed the reins after Paul Cullen's exit last month and takes charge for the first time for the trip to Harlequins on Sunday.

Lowes told BBC Radio Manchester: "I am very interested in the job. I would be daft not to be interested in it.

"I am going to have a good go at trying to secure it as I have always had aspirations to be a head coach."

He added: "Whether it's here or somewhere else only time will tell. But it is literally one game at a time.

"That is uncomfortable for me, but at the moment that is just how I've got to ride with it."
