Wolves to host Liverpool reserves

Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium will be home to Liverpool Football Club's reserve games next season.

Their games were played in Wrexham last season but will now take place at a ground which staged games of the Uefa Women's European championship in 2005.

"We said from the day we came that we could stage football as well as rugby," said Warrington commercial development director Dave Hutchinson.

"We were lucky enough to sample it in 2005 - now we've gone a stage further."

Liverpool reserves captain Jack Hobbs said he hoped the shorter distance to travel to Warrington than to Wrexham would boost their crowds.

"It will feel like a real home atmosphere," he said.

"Being so close, it will encourage people to come and watch us."
