George scored eight tries in his last four Super League games |
Wakefield Trinity winger Luke George has become the latest player to commit his future to the Wildcats. The 21-year-old has agreed a new two-year contract which will take him through to the end of 2011. George, who scored 13 tries in 14 appearances this season, said: "I've been struggling over the last couple of years with injuries. "For the coaching staff to recognise that I've been doing well since getting back in the side is a great boost." He added: "People have only really been able to see half of what I can do and with the quality of players we're bringing in next year I'm hoping that I, and more importantly the team, can have another good year," George added. | I think next year he can be competing with the top try scorers in the competition Wakefield coach John Kear |
And George's coach John Kear believes the winger has a bright future at Belle Vue, despite the injury problems that have blighted his progress since he arrived in 2007. "It has been a very frustrating two years for Luke with a major knee injury at the start of 2008 and then lots of niggling injuries that have hampered his progress, " said Kear. "But you only have to look at his statistics to see he knows his way to the line and with a full pre-season under his belt I think next year he can be competing with the top try scorers in the competition."
