Former Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Great Britain forward Gary Price will take up a cycle challenge to raise money for the RFL Benevolent Fund. Price, along with four other cyclists, will travel coast to coast from Blackpool to Scarborough on 18 July. "We are looking forward to generating a very healthy donation to add to the fund," said Price. In 2008 the team raised over £1,000 for three different rugby charities by competing in the Wakefield triathlon. Price is joined on the ride by Andy Blakeley, Jacques Banting, Ian Boyes and John Auty, who have all been training for over three months for the event and recently completed a 100-mile practice ride in preparation for this challenge. The team will depart from Blackpool Tower at 0530 BST on 18 July as their route takes in Clitheroe, Skipton, Harrogate, York, Malton and Pickering before they eventually arrive at the famous Spa on Scarborough's seafront in the early evening. Price added: "If a player is fortunate enough to retire from his playing career without a serious injury and subsequent assistance from the benevolent fund, there is every chance he knows someone who has. "This is why we all feel so strongly about the work of this charity."
