Super League outfit Wakefield Trinity Wildcats' Community Trust has received 1,710 from the West Yorkshire Police Community Trust. The police grant will go towards funding a controlling behaviour assembly in local schools. Wakefield community trust manager Davide Longo said: "We have worked with the police before on our summer camps to great success.
"The whole aim of this partnership is to make the community a safer place." The assemblies will be carried out in primary and secondary schools in conjunction with West Yorkshire Police schools liaison officer PC Mick Amos. The assemblies will be linked to knife crime and will look to highlight to young people in Wakefield the consequences of their actions. The West Yorkshire Police Community Trust was launched in 1996 and has since awarded 330 grants in the region. The trust gain their money for the grants from seized assets from the police. The Wildcats Community Trust was one of 33 successful applicants out of over 130 organisations that applied this time round.
