Pryce played under Kear for the England A team |
Wakefield have snapped up prop Danny Sculthorpe and winger Waine Pryce from relegated Super League side Castleford. Pryce, 25, signed a one-year deal, while Sculthorpe, 27, penned a three-year contract after spending 2006 on loan at the Tigers from Wigan.
The Warriors have released Sculthorpe from the final 12 months of his deal.
"Danny has that X-factor," said Wakefield head coach John Kear. "Waine is an established winger with good experience and great pace."
Sculthorpe, younger brother of Great Britain and St Helens captain Paul, is a direct replacement for front rower Michael Korkidas, who has joined Salford.
"He [Danny] has lots of positives to his game, and we feel we can develop it further, especially with having (former Great Britain prop) Paul Broadbent on board," added Kear.
Pryce was Castleford's longest-serving player with five seasons under his belt at the Jungle, and was in superb form before breaking his leg in July.
He had only recently agreed a new deal with the club but became a free agent when the Wildcats consigned Tigers to a spell in National League One.
"The form he was displaying at Castleford prior to his injury was, I believe, the best of his career," Kear added.
"He has vastly improved under the high ball and had a superb try-scoring record at Castleford.
"I am very confident that he can continue this progression at Belle Vue."
Pryce will link up with the rest of the Wakefield squad for pre-season training on 13 November.
