Foster has kicked 32 goals for St Helens this season |
St Helens centre Jamie Foster says the Saints have to make the Stobart Stadium an intimidating place to play for visiting teams. After a slow start to the season at their temporary Widnes home, Foster's team have won back-to-back home games. "I think over the last few weeks we've stamped our authority and got a good few wins under our belts," Foster, 20, told BBC Radio Merseyside. "It's just about kicking on now and making it a fortress." He added: "When we first started at the beginning of the year, we started a little bit rusty and when you're not playing well people will pick up on things like that." St Helens have climbed to third in the Super League table and Royce Simmons' team are at the Stobart Stadium on Friday when they entertain Wakefield. But Foster is more concerned with his own play and he believes there is still plenty of work to do before he can consider himself the finished article. | I'm just trying to deal with the pressures of Super League but it's coming along really well St Helens centre Jamie Foster |
"My kicking hasn't been too good this year, and for me personally, I've not been hitting it as best as I can," Foster continued. "I've got to keep the practice going and hopefully I can put the performances with the boot together. "There's a lot of pressure especially in these big games when there's a lot riding on it, when you know you're taking a kick that could affect the swing of the game. "I think that was something that affected me last year. I'm just trying to deal with the pressures of Super League but it's coming along really well. "I've not missed too many this year, but it's just the ones I'm missing I want to concentrate on." The Saints are playing in nearby Widnes for a year while their new stadium in St Helens is being built.
