St Helens full-back Paul Wellens says the Saints are in good shape ahead of their Challenge Cup semi-final with Leeds Rhinos on Saturday.

The Saints beat rivals Warrington 26-24 on Saturday to go level on points with the Wolves in second place.

"It's pleasing we've built on last week's performance against Wakefield," Wellens, 30, told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"Our performances are improving and they're going to need to improve in the semi-final of the Challenge Cup."

Wellens added: "[The win over Warrington] is massive for confidence and we'll bounce into training and we'll have a smile on our faces.

"But we'll certainly be working hard, as we know we'll be in for a very tough game against Leeds."
