Cayless joined Saints on a four-year deal in 2005 |
Forward Jason Cayless has left St Helens after failing to recover from a shoulder injury. The 29-year-old former New Zealand international made 83 appearances for Saints but has not played since April. He was a member of the club's Challenge Cup-winning teams in 2006 and 2007 and was also a Grand Final winner in 2006. "It has been a tragedy for him and a disappointment for us that injury has blighted his last two seasons at the club," said chairman Eamonn McManus. Former Sydney Roosters prop Cayless suffered a knee injury in 2008 and hurt his shoulder when he was the victim of a 'chicken-wing' tackle at Wakefield. | 606: DEBATE |
Having joined Saints on a four-year deal in 2005, Cayless was of contract at the end of the season and has decided to return to Australia. McManus added: "I would like to wish Jason Cayless every success and every luck in his life back in Australia."
