Roby is a key figure for St Helens off the bench |
St Helens hooker James Roby is the latest player to join the club's lengthy injury list after breaking his hand in Friday's defeat by Wakefield. The England international and former Man of Steel will be out for the next four weeks. The injury almost certainly rules him out of Saints' Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield on 9 August. He joins Maurie Fa'asavalu (broken arm), Sean Long (fractured jaw) and Jason Cayless (knee) on the sidelines. Chris Flannery and Kyle Eastmond also missed Friday's game due to mumps. In addition, youngster Jonny Lomax could miss up to six weeks if a scan reveals ankle damage while teenager Gary Wheeler is also sidelined with a calf problem. However, the club are hopeful that the hamstring injury picked up by Francis Meli is not serious while Keiron Cunningham returned on Friday after a knee injury. Roby has played in all but two of double-chasing Saints' 24 league and cup matches this year.
