Cunningham's current deal expires at the end of the season |
St Helens hooker Keiron Cunningham will be out of action for up to four weeks following a minor knee operation. The 32-year-old former Great Britain international was injured in the win over Celtic Crusaders last week and will have surgery this week. Coach Mick Potter said: "He's been just about ever-present and has really done the hard minutes, starting the games, showing what a leader he is. "He has been enormous and has made us rock-solid for the year so far." Cunningham is in the last year of his contract and has yet to decide whether he wishes to play on beyond the end of the season. | 606: DEBATE |
Potter added: "It'll be up to Keiron. There is a possibility he could still do another year." Centre Matt Gidley could also be out for two weeks with a leg strain but Leon Pryce is in contention for Friday's trip to Salford despite a similar problem.
