Wellens has been a part of the Saints set-up his whole professional career |
St Helens full-back Paul Wellens says his side can still improve even though they currently sit at the top of the Super League table. Wellens scored a try in the 30-0 win over Celtic Crusaders on Friday which sees them four points clear at the top. "The disappointing thing was how much ball we put down and a few missed opportunities with that," Wellens told BBC Radio Merseyside. "But you can't take anything for granted in this league." He added: "You look at the score board and you've got to be satisfied that you're 24-0 up at half time. "We spoke about certain things that we needed to improve on - and to be honest we didn't improve in the second half. "We were still scrappy, if not a little bit more scrappy, but a 30-0 win and another two points, you've got to be happy with that because the competition is fierce."
