St Helens stand-off Gary Wheeler has signed a new three-year deal that will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2012 season. The 19-year-old has made 10 appearances for the Saints this season, scoring 40 points in the process. "Gary has established himself with a string of good performances," said Saints chief executive Tony Colquitt. "His versatility is key for the club. He can play anywhere from one to seven and is great for the future of Saints." Although a stand-off by trade, Wheeler has played in a number of positions this season including centre and on the wing. "He has integrated seamlessly into the first team and will no doubt be an even more exciting talent as he develops," added Colquitt. "If he continues to progress, Gary has a big future within the game."
