Harlequins have signed full-back Ben Jones-Bishop on a one-year loan deal from Super League rivals Leeds Rhinos. The highly-regarded 21-year-old joins Ben Jones, another product of the prolific Leeds academy, at the Twickenham Stoop for the 2009 season. Prop Jones, 21, signed a one-year contract at the end of last week. Jones-Bishop chose Quins over several other Super League clubs competing for his services because of his desire to work under head coach Brian McDermott. "I'm looking forward to experiencing the new challenges that lie ahead at Harlequins," said Jones-Bishop. "I'm very eager to play more Super League and hope that I can achieve this in London." McDermott said he looks forward to working with Jones-Bishop. "A lot of people in the game anticipate good things from Ben and we're very happy to bring a player of that calibre to London," he said. "Ben is ready to play first team at the moment and we're always looking at ways to strengthen the quality of our squad." Quins have already signed forwards Andy Ellis (Barrow), Oliver Wilkes (Wakefield), Matt James (Bradford) and Ryan Esders (Hull KR).
