Harlequins have signed Hull Kingston Rovers forward Ryan Esders on a one-month loan deal.
The 22-year-old linked up with the Quins on Monday and could go straight into the side for Saturday's Super League clash with Huddersfield Giants.
He told BBC London 94.9: "It's good for me to get more experience and hopefully get a chance to play more Super League.
"I could've gone to some National League team but I'm really pleased to be at another Super League team."
"It's an opportunity for games at a club like Harlequins who are up there anyway. It's good for me to play for a good team," he continued.
"My fitness is a bit on the sloppy side but hopefully I can get that to peak so I can help the team out."
Harlequins head coach Brian McDermott told the club's website: "Ryan has caught the eye of several of our coaches over the years.
"With the recent injuries, we felt we needed to bring some cover in."
Esders began his career at Rovers before switching to York City Knights in 2007 when he was named the club's young player of the year, before returning for Super League XIV.
The back-row said: "This club is developing a great reputation for bringing through young players.
"I have a lot of respect for head coach Brian McDermott and am looking forward to working with him and the team."
