Rhinos hooker Matt Diskin wants Challenge Cup victory
Diskin has made 169 first team appearances for Leeds
Leeds Rhinos hooker Matt Diskin says the club have a burning desire to win the Challenge Cup in 2010.
Diskin told BBC Radio Leeds: "It really is a big goal of ours and it's something that this team needs to add to the cabinet.
"We've been done very poorly in the competition and it's something that's really burning deep inside of us to get hold of."
Rhinos have not won the trophy since beating London at Wembley in 1999.
"There aren't many in the team who've actually won it, JP [Jamie Peacock] and Keith [Senior] have but they've not won it with Leeds. We've made two finals but other than that we've underachieved in the competition.
"We seem to excel in Super League but we've been turned over in the Challenge Cup."
Diskin was speaking ahead of his testimonial match on Sunday when the Rhinos take on West Yorkshire rivals Bradford Bulls at Headingley.
The club have been doing all they can to ensure the match goes ahead and the players have helped too.
"We had a morning off the other day so I dragged a few of the boys in early and we were clearing the snow from the in-goal areas."
The 28-year-old signed for Leeds at the age of 15 and has gone on to become an integral part of the club's most successful squad winning four Super League Grand Finals.
"I can still remember signing in the old bungalow which isn't there anymore, setting out on my journey but I didn't expect I'd be here 10 or 12 years later. It's just been a fantastic journey and I'm really proud and humble to be part of it."
Diskin has extra motivation in 2010 as he is out of contract at the end of season and the club are yet to speak to him about a new deal.
"I've got to make sure I play well. I think my form over the last couple of years has been good and I think myself then the club should be knocking on the door but to this date they haven't yet."
