 Jones-Buchanan only signed a new three-year contract in January 2008 |
England international second-row Jamie Jones-Buchanan has agreed a new four-year contract with Leeds Rhinos. The 27-year-old, who had two years left on his previous deal signed last January, will now stay at Headingley until the end of the 2012 season. He told BBC Radio Leeds: "I've never had any intentions of going anywhere else. I'm not interested in anything but playing at Leeds. "It's the best rugby league club in the country, if not the world." He added: "I started at the top place and that's where I want to finish." Jones-Buchanan came through the ranks of the Leeds academy and is about to launch his testimonial season with the club.
But he revealed he sees his long-term future with the Rhinos beyond his playing days. "I get more and more involved with the club on the coaching side of things," he said. "Hopefully I can be there until I'm old and decrepit and I can't run about any more. "It's not just the playing side, I've still got lots to achieve and accomplish at Leeds, like coaching the youngsters." | 606: DEBATE | Jones-Buchanan's new deal will take him into his early 30s, but he has not given up hope of earning a playing contract beyond that. "Hopefully I can play for a bit longer if I can keep my body in good nick," he said. "I was quite a late starter. Kevin Sinfield has been playing top-flight rugby at Leeds since he was 16, and I was a bit later than that. "Body and mind-wise I've never felt better and I'm enjoying playing. "My confidence is through the roof and I think there's still a lot of areas I can improve on."
