Lauitiiti has made a big impact at Leeds with his power and off-loading skills |
New Zealand forward Ali Lauitiiti has signed a two-year contract extension with Leeds Rhinos to remain at the club until the end of the 2010 season. The 28-year-old, whose current deal was due to expire at the end of November, has played 119 games for Leeds, with 68 of them coming off the bench. "We have got a good, young group of players here now," said Lauitiiti. "I think we are going to have even more success in the future. I hope I can play my part over the next two years." Lauitiiti's new deal leaves only Carl Ablett and Nick Scruton as senior players out of contract after the end of the current season. | 606: DEBATE | Half-backs Danny McGuire and Rob Burrow signed new five-year deals last month, while Brent Webb, Scott Donald, Ryan Bailey, Jamie Peacock and Jamie Jones-Buchanan have also agreed new contracts. Lauitiiti added: "I could not have imagined when I arrived four years ago that things would've gone so well. "My wife and I have settled into life in Leeds and the Rhinos is a fantastic club. "My team-mates are my best mates and it is great to be playing and training alongside them every day." Leeds coach Brian McClennan said: "We are very happy to have Ali with us for another two years."
