Rhinos centre Clinton Toopi could be out for five months |
Leeds Rhinos centre Clinton Toopi is unlikely to play again until late August after having shoulder surgery. The New Zealand international suffered a dislocated shoulder in the World Club Challenge win over Melbourne Storm. Toopi, 28, was initally ruled out for four months, but has now undergone reconstruction surgery when the damage proved worse than first thought. Rhinos head physio Meirion Jones said: "We are confident of having Clinton back playing in the next five months." He added: "He has had the operation straight away and the surgeon is happy with how that went. "The operation was a complete success and we have done everything possible to make sure that Clinton makes a full recovery. "There was slightly more damage that we initially thought, which has lengthened his rehabilitation slightly."
