Jason Netherton to miss Rovers' Sunday friendly

Netherton had a wrist reconstruction operation last November

Hull Kingston Rovers will be without Jason Netherton for their final pre-season friendly against Salford at Craven Park on Sunday.

The 28-year-old forward has picked up a hamstring injury in training and will not be considered for selection.

"I won't select him, but it's nothing serious," Rovers coach Justin Morgan told BBC Radio Humberside.

"I know he hasn't played yet after having a wrist operation and he'll be working with our club physios."

The Robins have two warm-up games this weekend - on Saturday away at Workington and a home match against fellow Super League side Salford the following day.

Morgan will decide later in the week which players will play in which game.

"I'll be giving every one of the squad some game time," he said.

"Everyone needs a run-out, because it's important for them to get some timing and some cohesion within the team."

Apart from Netherton, the only other player that will not be involved is Rhys Lovegrove.

He is recovering from minor knee surgery and will not be fit for the Super League Magic Weekend opener against Hull FC in Cardiff on 13 February.
