Mason turned down Crusaders in January |
Hull Kingston Rovers have confirmed their interest in signing former Australia Test forward Willie Mason. Mason, 30, is currently with North Queensland Cowboys but may move to England at the end of the NRL season. Robins coach Justin Morgan told BBC Radio Humberside: "There's been some initial contact expressing some interest in Willie. "I think we could certainly find a decent spot for Willie in our side if he decided to pursue a career with us." Morgan added: "There are a lot of factors which need to go into consideration - finances, where he would fit into the team and what position he would play. "I imagine he would have a number of other clubs interested, but there has been an expression of interest between the two clubs." Controversial Mason turned down the chance to play in the Super League with Crusaders earlier this year, as well as rejecting an offer from Hull FC in 2007. The fiery forward is best remembered in the UK for striking Great Britain forward Stuart Fielden and knocking him unconscious during the 2006 Tri-Nations.
