Vella pulled out of the Hull derby prior to kick-off with a rib injury
Hull Kingston Rovers captain Mick Vella is rated as 50/50 to be fit for Saturday's Super League clash with Bradford Bulls at Craven Park.
Vella pulled out of last week's derby defeat by Hull FC with a rib injury picked up just prior to kick-off.
Robins assistant coach Chris Chester told BBC Radio Humberside: "We'll take it day by day and we're hopeful he'll be fit to play.
"If not, we've got some good young kids to come in if Mick's not right."
There is more positive news on the injury front for the Robins as winger Liam Colbon is set to make his return from a double-injury absence that has kept him on the sidelines since late March.
Colbon suffered a broken jaw in the game with the Catalans Dragons before picking up medial knee ligament damage whilst on the verge of making his comeback from the original injury.
Rovers will also be without utility-back Ben Cockayne as he begins a two-game suspension.
