Newton signed a new four-year deal with Rovers in March |
Hull Kingston Rovers will come up against a rejuvenated Warrington at Murrayfield on Sunday, according to Robins player Clint Newton. The back-row forward believes that Wolves look like a different side since Tony Smith took over as coach. He told BBC Radio Humberside: "They've definitely been the underachievers of Super League for a long time. "But they've brought in Tony Smith and he's exactly what they've needed and they've made some important decisions." Warrington got off to a poor start to the season and gained their first win of the season, against Hull KR, shortly after the England coach Smith was appointed and Newton says they have kicked on since then. "They needed some structure and to start to do the 1% plays like the kick chase better so it's not going to be an easy game for us against them in Scotland," he added. Rovers will stay in second place if they can get past the Wolves at Murrayfield from a 1900 BST kick-off on Sunday and Newton is hoping that the weather holds fast for the game. "We're the seventh and last game of the weekend and if the pitch is turned up then it'll be a defensive battle - let's hope the weather doesn't play a part," he declared.
