Hull KR full-back Briscoe has not yet returned to training

Hull Kingston Rovers full-back Shaun Briscoe is losing his battle to be fit for this month's local derby against his former club Hull FC.

Briscoe is currently sidelined with a groin injury and coach Justin Morgan told BBC Radio Humberside the fixture on 20 July may come too soon.

"To get back for the derby would be an outside chance for Shaun," said Morgan.

"He's going to aim for the derby but he's more likely to be back the game after that, after the Cup weekend."

Briscoe picked up the injury two weeks ago and Morgan revealed that he is still not back in training.

"He's still got a little bit of discomfort and he hasn't been able to get full range of movement or anything yet," added Morgan, "so he's only in the early parts of his recovery."
