Cooke had spent 10 years at Hull FC before crossing to the Robins |
Hull KR stand-off Paul Cooke could return to the Rovers line-up against Hull FC after serving his suspension. Cooke was banned for six weeks for approaching Rovers without permission while still contracted to Hull FC. The 26-year-old will be available for Friday's derby game against his former side and KR scrum-half James Webster said Cooke's return is a huge boost. He said: "Paul will add something when he's back. He's been there, done it and I'm sure he's looking forward to it." "I think any team would miss a player of Paul Cooke's calibre. Cookie offers plenty, he's a little bit different to what we play at the moment, he's got a kicking game which helps us. "He's got that bit of experience, we probably lacked a bit of experience in those key situations over the past two or three weeks." Rovers are hoping Cooke's return from suspension will spell the end of the matter, which has run for almost a year. The Rugby Football League had originally accepted Cooke's registration and cleared the stand-off to make his Rovers debut on 27 April last year against Huddersfield. He went on to make 14 appearances for the club he supported as a boy, playing in the two victories over the Black and Whites that helped keep Rovers in the Super League.
