Cooke says he is still on good terms with the Hull FC squad |
Stand-off Paul Cooke is adamant he has no regrets about his controversial move from Hull to Hull KR. Despite Hull's insistence he was still contracted to them, Cooke was cleared to make his Rovers debut last Friday.
"It was tough on me, my friends and my family," admitted the 26-year-old, who had announced last Monday that he was leaving Hull for their city rivals.
"People that are close to me know how difficult a decision it was, but I've made it and I'll live and stand by it."
The boyhood Rovers fan added: "It was a personal choice for me to move and that was it.
"I felt the time was right for me and the opportunity arose and that was it, my own personal choice."
Hull intend to take legal action against Cooke and Rovers and, other than his claims that he was a free agent, the player says he cannot yet say more about his acrimonious transfer.

"I will reveal the full reasons when I get the chance," he said. "I definitely will be the one to say it."
Cooke also denied the rumours that he has fallen out with several players in the Hull FC camp, claiming that many have wished him well.
"I've just had a conversation with my best mate Lee Radford who I'm supposed to have fallen out with," he said.
"I can honestly say that I've fallen out with no player at the club, no member of the coaching staff at the club, and that's one thing I do want to make clear.
"I still have friends at the club and in the city and I got text messages off players after the game against Wakefield on Saturday and I still remain good friends with people."
Cooke, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Craven Park, said he is now concentrating on keeping Rovers clear of relegation.
"We need to stay in Super League and I'm looking forward to helping us do that," he said. "We need to consolidate, get a bit better year after year.
"All I'm concentrating on is me, Hull Kingston Rovers and doing the best I can do, which is all I have ever done in life."
