Hull stand-off Richard Horne has paid tribute to the fans who turned out to watch his testimonial game against arch rivals Hull Kingston Rovers.
More than 16,000 people saw Hull FC win 28-16 in the debut match for Jordan Turner, Craig Fitzgibbon, Mark O'Meley and new skipper Sean Long.
Horne said: "The Hull [FC] fans have been great to me over the years.
"Even the Rovers fans haven't given me too much stick; I must be doing something right."
Horne revealed that former playing colleague Steve Prescott, who is recovering from stomach cancer, presented him with his shirt before the game.
The visitors opened the scoring as Liam Colbon latched onto a Michael Dobson kick to cross into the left corner, but the conversion was missed.
With 20 minutes gone Horne delivered an exquisite kick to the corner that was gathered by Mark Calderwood who touched down in the corner. Danny Tickle provided the extras from the touchline.
Horne had a hand in the second Hull try as he combined with Long to provide for Ewan Dowes, who powered over before Tickle converted to give the home side a 12-4 lead.
Hull extended their lead further as they stepped up their intensity before half time and Jordan Turner left the Rovers defence standing to put Hull 16-4 ahead at the turnaround.
Clinton Newton went in under the posts for Rovers shortly after the break and he was swiftly followed by Chaz I'Anson, both tries coming from Dobson's short passing.
Tom Briscoe was on the end of a fantastic team score on the hour after Long, Danny Washbrook and then Craig Hall, with a superb offload out of the tackle, assisted.
Tickle converted and quick hands saw Richard Whiting ground the home side's fifth try of the evening in front of the home fans to cap off a memorable night for Horne and the Hull faithful.
