Hull FC have rewarded fans for their support by dedicating squad number 18 to them.

The Black and Whites had an average attendance of more than 12,000 at the KC Stadium despite failing to reach the Super League play-offs.

Skipper Lee Radford told BBC Radio Humberside: "They were fantastic for us and ironically 18 was my first ever shirt number at the club.

"They deserve it because results haven't gone our way lately."

Fans of the club - one of the three best-supported in the Super League -will get to put their own names on the shirts accompanied by the number 18.

Radford added: "Other clubs have done this in the past and the fans have bought into it and I'm sure Hull FC fans will do the same thing. They've supported us even though things haven't been the best for the last couple of years.

"One game that springs to mind is the home game against Harlequins this season. Over 15,000 turned out and that was fantastic. The Hull FC fans are unbelievable. They're passionate, loud and for me the best in the game."
