Hull caretaker coach Richard Agar says he is not the man to take over from John Kear, who was released at the start of the week. Agar takes charge for Friday's game against Leeds but believes he is not ready to claim the job full time.
"I'm quite realistic," he said. "I know I've got a period of learning to do.
"I'll keep getting more experience and, if the time ever came when I felt I was capable of taking on a job, then I would consider it."
Kear left the club on Monday after Hull announced that his contract would not be renewed at the end of the season.
The club did not hold talks with Kear over a new deal despite winning the Challenge Cup last year.
And the decision to release Kear was made after run of four defeats in the last five games.
Hull's first choice for the job is Steve McNamara, who is currently assistant coach at Bradford.
But until an appointment is made, it is left to Agar, fellow coaches Andy Last and Steve Crooks, and conditioner Billy Mallinson to take charge of the team for the Leeds clash.
"Between us we're holding the fort until the club hopefully make a fairly swift appointment," added Agar.
"My name has been put forward as a stop-gap but we're doing it as a team. We're all chipping in and working as a unit."
