Giants winger Jermaine McGillvary profits from loan
Huddersfield-born McGillvary can also play at full-back.
Jermaine McGillvary believes his loan spell at Batley Bulldogs last season helped to earn him a new four year contract with the Giants.
The 22-year-old winger told BBC Radio Leeds that any up and coming player would benefit from time with a Co-operative Championship side.
He said: "The coaching staff at Huddersfield always said it was just for my development.
"You're naive and young and do wonder if they're telling you the truth!"
McGillvary, who scored five tries in seven appearances after breaking into the first team in 2010, admits he had reservations about going out on loan.
"I'm not going to lie because you do feel like you've been shipped out and there's no way back. But it can definitely be beneficial if you are a fringe or a young player to go to the Championship and gain experience."
