Huddersfield Giants have strongly denied newspaper reports that coach Jon Sharp has applied for the head coach role at Catalans Dragons. The French outfit are looking for a replacement for Mick Potter, who leaves at the end of the season for St Helens. Giants managing director Richard Thewlis told BBC Radio Leeds that it is a "non-story" and Sharp is not leaving. Sharp has been in charge at the Galpharm Stadium for four years, after taking over from Tony Smith. The Giants coach guided the club to the Challenge Cup final in 2006, which they lost to St Helens, and he also took them to their first ever top-six finish and a play-off place last season. However, pressure has grown on Sharp in recent weeks with the club second-from-bottom of the Super League.
