Prop Richard Moore was released by Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in December |
Crusaders have signed former Wakefield and Bradford prop Richard Moore. The 29-year-old is new Crusaders coach Iestyn Harris's third signing, on top of old Wildcats team-mate Paul Johnson and ex-Bradford back Stuart Reardon. "Richard fits the bill for the type of player we are looking to recruit here at the Crusaders," said Harris. Moore, who resumed his career after being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2009, was released by Wakefield due to salary cap restrictions. Moore's signing comes three days after a new company backed by Wrexham Village, owners of the club's Racecourse Ground home, completed a deal to take the troubled Welsh franchise out of administration. The 6ft 2ins powerhouse won the Super League and Challenge Cup during his three-year spell at Bradford during 2001 and 2004. Moore also had spells with London Broncos and Leigh before joining the Wildcats. "He's a real tough competitor, a big strong runner and he never takes a backward step," said Harris. "Richard has lots of Super League experience under his belt and he adds real strength and aggression to our pack. "He has been one of Wakefield's outstanding performers over the past few years and we're delighted that he has chosen to take up a new challenge here in Wrexham."
