Hanbury goes straight into the squad to face Wakefield Trinity |
Super League side Crusaders have signed Rhys Hanbury from National Rugby League outfit Wests Tigers. The 24-year-old Australian can play either full-back or half-back. His signing has been on the cards for some time, but he has been waiting for his visa to clear, an issue the Crusaders had problems with last year. "I am delighted to finally have Rhys on board," said Crusaders coach Brian Noble, who is set to give Hanbury his debut at Wakefield Trinity on Sunday. "It has taken him a while to get here but he will be a great addition to the squad. | 606: DEBATE |
"He is a quality player who can play in a variety of positions and his arrival will create extra competition for places. "He has played in a very good Wests Tigers side in the NRL and his versatility means he can play in a number of roles for us." Hanbury made 20 appearances for Wests, scoring four tries in the process, and has also played for South Sydney in Australia. He is included in the 19-man squad for Sunday's Hearwell Stadium clash in place of Jordan James, the only change to the panel that lost against Bradford Bulls on Easter Monday.
