Walker follows Dallas Johnson and Setaimata Sa to the Catalans Dragons |
Catalans Dragons have made their third overseas signing of the off season with the capture of Chris Walker to complete their squad for the 2010 campaign. The 29-year-old Australian winger arrives from the Gold Coast Titans and has signed a two-year contract. The move fills the Dragons' overseas quota spot made vacant by Greg Bird's move in the opposition direction. "He's a formidable finisher who I think will become very popular with the fans," said team boss Sebastien Munoz. "He will bring speed to the three-quarter line, which is what we sometimes lacked. He will provide tough competition which will only be positive for the team." | 606: DEBATE |
The Dragons have already brought in Melbourne Storm back row forward Dallas Johnson and New Zealand centre or second rower Setaimata Sa. Walker, who has also played for Brisbane Broncos, Melbourne Storm, South Sydney and Sydney Roosters, was set to join the Dragons earlier this year but pulled out of talks when Bradford expressed an interest. He claimed to have signed a contract with the Bulls before they completed their quota with the signing of Manly scrum-half Matt Orford and sought the help of the Professional Players' Association in a bid to resolve the dispute. Bradford insist that no contract was lodged with the RFL and team manager Stuart Duffy confirmed today that no settlement had been made with the player.
