Holmes is one of four new faces in the Tigers squad for 2010 |
Castleford Tigers have promoted teenage back-rower Oliver Holmes into the first-team squad. The 17-year-old won a new contract last month after impressing in full-time training and has now been handed the number 26 jersey for 2010. Holmes joins John Davies, another local Tigers academy product, who is in the senior squad for the first time. Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "Both have plenty of potential and they will be keen to press their claims." Two other new faces are included in the squad with new signings Steve Snitch and Paul Jackson being handed shirt numbers 12 and 16 respectively. Matterson added: "There aren't too many changes to the squad for next season with just two new signings coming on board. "I would still like to add another new face, possibly two, and we are actively considering the options available to use. "We won't bring a player in for the sake of adding a number, we will only look at people who we feel can do the right job for us."
