Chase joined Castleford from St George Illawarra

Castleford Tigers have handed half-back Rangi Chase a new four-year deal.

The in-form 23-year-old junior Kiwi was already contracted at the Jungle until 2010 but the Tigers were keen to head off competition for his signature.

Chase has been the only permanent fixture in Castleford's line-up during the current season.

Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "This is a major coup. He has been outstanding and is possibly the form player of the competition."

He added: "Rangi covers three positions for us and has certainly come a long way this season and, at only 23, we feel that there is even more to come from him."

"I'm very happy to have agreed this deal and really pleased to be staying at the Tigers. The club is really heading in the right direction," Chase said.
