Matterson has been in charge at Castleford since 2005
Castleford Tigers head coach Terry Matterson has billed the Challenge Cup their main target this season.
The Tigers, who have won three of their four Super League games this year, will travel to West Yorkshire neighbours Keighley Cougars in the fourth round.
Australian Matterson told BBC Radio Leeds: "It's our top priority. We haven't been in a good enough state to go for it in the past.
"This year we are very healthily and we will be going for it."
After finishing bottom of Super League last season, Castleford have exploded into Super League XIV by rising to third in the table.
Matterson added: "We have a chance this year [in the Challenge Cup], especially with so many Super League clubs drawn together, so a few will be knocked out early.
"The last couple of years for us has either been about avoiding relegation or getting promoted again, so the Challenge Cup has never been a main focus.
