Bradford Bulls forward Steve Menzies may not retire
Menzies is in his second season at the Bulls
Bradford Bulls forward Steve Menzies may delay his plans to retire.
The Australian second row, who will turn 37 later this year, had planned to quit playing at the end of this season.
"At the start of the year I was pretty sure this would be my last year, but things may now change," Menzies told BBC Radio Leeds.
"I feel really good at the moment and I'm really enjoying it. So we'll see how the next few months go and see what happens. You never know."
Menzies moved to Bradford in 2009 from Manly on a one-year deal, but agreed an extension to cover this season.
"I feel better at this point this season than I did last year," he said. "Last year I had a few injury problems at this point but I feel good at present.
"I'll talk to the club about things in a few months' time, but obviously they have a quota of how many overseas players they can have at the club.
"Age is just a number. It's been just a number for the last four years or so now. So we'll see how things go in the next few months and you never know.
"The young kids keep you competitive. I think you've got to be that type of person to play this long. You really appreciate a lot more what you do for a living and the job that we have.
"I think when you're 18, 19 up to 22 you run around and you don't really appreciate how lucky you are to play a game you love and get paid for it."
"I don't believe anyone thinks 'This is my last big game' whoever you're playing.
"I think you just appreciate that what we do, enjoy each week and the competition we have out there.
"The team spirit here is great. One of the best I've ever played in. This team works hard for each other and is very close knit.
"I think we are getting better and better and think we have something special developing down here."
