Kearney missed almost all of the 2009 NRL season with a foot injury |
Bradford Bulls have completed the signing of Cronulla Sharks stand-off Brett Kearney. The 26-year-old, who can also play at full-back, has signed a two-year deal at the Grattan Stadium. Kearney told the club's website: "Bradford have been a club at the top of the Super League for a time now and that obviously played a big part. "Playing in England is something I've been thinking about and it was a good opportunity to come over." Kearney, who will join up with his new side in November, has been out since the first game of the 2009 NRL season with a foot injury. "My injured foot is 100% now," he added. "I've been doing a little bit of training here by myself. It's killing me not playing | He's very elusive, scores tries and will bring a lot to us Bradford coach Steve McNamara |
"I haven't touched a footy properly in about five or six months so I can't wait to get started again." Bulls coach Steve McNamara said: "He's had a tough year but made massive strides before the injury and is very highly thought of in Australia. "We know all about Brett's pedigree and when he played well, Cronulla played well. "He's very elusive, scores tries and will bring a lot to us. He is a bit of a free-spirit type of player and is someone you wouldn't tie down too much. "
