Teenager Sam Burgess has signed a new three-year deal with Bradford which lasts until 2009. The 17-year-old, who captained England Schoolboys last season, can operate at second row or prop and is being tipped to break though into the first team.
"He is very close to playing for the first team," said Bulls coach Steve McNamara. "It's fantastic that he's committed his future to the Bulls."
Burgess said: "I hope to play Super League as soon as I can."
The 6ft 3in teenager joined Bulls from amateur side Hunslet Parkside ARLFC last year and the Super League side are now plotting his progress.
"He is the outstanding talent of his age group and has been rewarded with what he has achieved so far at Bradford," said McNamara.
"Sam has taken the right steps and is heading in the right direction. He is putting himself in the frame for the first team and we're pleased with his displays."
