Huddersfield v Bradford

Huddersfield ran in nine tries as they demolished Bradford at the Galpharm Stadium to go top of Super League.

The Giants never looked back after three tries in the first eight minutes as they became only the second team to hit 50 points in the league this year.

Winger Jermaine McGillvary and second row Graeme Horne both bagged a brace.

Leroy Cudjoe, David Fa'alogo, Scott Grix, Larne Patrick and Dale Ferguson were the other men to cross, the Bulls responding with three tries.

The injury-hit Bulls were without Heath L'Estrange, Chev Walker, Kyle Briggs, Jamie Langley and James Donaldson.

But Mick Potter's shell-shocked side never recovered from gifting McGillvary the first of his two tries after just 72 seconds when two Bradford players collided while attempting to reach a pass.

Cudjoe added a second try five minutes later while McGillvary's kick through on 10 minutes put Fa'alogo in for an easy score.

And Huddersfield piled on the misery with three more tries before the break to lead 30-6 at half-time.

Grix rode two tackles and evaded three defenders on the line to register a fine solo effort, while Patrick and Graeme Horne polished off slick moves.

To give Huddersfield so much possession was suicide

McGillvary's second try came on 44 minutes and the scoring pace did not even slow when Huddersfield's influential Luke O'Donnell was sin-binned four minutes later for a professional foul on Brett Kearney.

The impressive Danny Brough, called up to the England training squad this week, weighed in with seven goals, converting six of Huddersfield's nine tries, as well as adding a penalty on 52 minutes.

Ferguson, on his home debut, then romped in at the corner on 63 minutes and Horne added his second try soon after to help bring up the half century.

Horne's touchdown sparked a mass exit of Bradford fans, who missed a late resurgence as Marc Herbert and Gareth Raynor both went over late on.

Patrick Ah Van converted Raynor's score to continue his impressive kicking record this season.

Having also landed a first-half conversion when winger Shaun Ainscough went over on 22 minutes, he has now kicked 18 goals from 22 attempts.

Giants coach Nathan Brown:

"If Danny Brough can keep up his current level of play and we maintain our consistency, then there's a good chance we'll be able to reap some rewards come the end of the season.

"Danny has a really good kicking game, and that is maybe one of the things that England were missing last season - a consistently good kicker.

"Our discipline was good for long periods of the game. We did a lot of good things in the performance. We played some nice footy."

Bulls coach Mick Potter:

"We started poorly, and it didn't get any better. We didn't see the ball for the first nine sets. By the time we did see it, we were 18-0 down and had a mountain to climb.

"Last week I thought we played OK, but I wasn't doing cartwheels about it because Wakefield aren't Huddersfield.

"You can't afford to give away the sort of start we made because they have some really good players. To give Huddersfield so much possession was suicide."
