Mark O'Meley scored two tries and Danny Tickle kicked 14 points as Hull FC held off a second-half Harlequins revival to move into fourth place in Super League.

The visitors led 30-0 at half-time, thanks to a try each from O'Meley, Kirk Yeaman, Danny Houghton, Jordan Turner and Sam Moa.

Quins threatened a revival when Luke Dorn, Will Sharp and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook crossed.

But Jordan Tansey and O'Meley ensured there would be no shock fightback.

The first 10 minutes of the game were entertaining with both sides offering action going forward, but it was Hull FC who took the lead, with O'Meley holding off two tackles and charging over.

They doubled that lead when Shaun Berrigan's brilliantly timed pass gave Yeaman a clear path to the line. Houghton streaked clear after Tom Briscoe dispossessed Jones-Bishop to cross, with Tickle kicking his third conversion.

Turner surged in at the corner and Moa charged over, with Tickle again faultless with the boot to make it 30-0 at half-time.

But it was Quins who were to score the next 18 points and threaten to make a game of it, with Dorn starting the rally by latching onto Luke Gale's chip to cross between the posts.

Sharp held off two tackles to race from inside his own half to score and then McCarthy-Scarsbrook rounded off a Chris Melling break, with Rob Purdham converting all three tries.

The Black & Whites sensed the possibility of a comeback and quelled it through Tansey and O'Meley, with Tickle converting both to end the day on 14 points and ensure Hull FC's first ever win at the Stoop.

Harlequins coach Brian McDermott:
"At the moment it seems to be an issue with our mentality.

"We really lacked direction and the first half performance was unacceptable. I am disappointed and I am frustrated and so are the players.

"We have a proud group of players here and some are close to tears about how poorly they played."

Hull FC assistant coach James Webster:
"Of course it is very important that we finish as high as we can in the table.

"We are really excited about the performance today and that is something we have to match over the final four rounds.

"We came here with a real level of determination after the defeat to Wigan last week and we really put that behind us.

"We have a week off now next week and the key for us is looking forward and making sure we take our place in the play-off semi-finals."
