Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown's U-turn over his planned exit at the end of the season inspired the Giants to a 30-12 win over Crusaders. Shaun Lunt scored after a 20-minute stalemate but Jarred Sammut was gifted a try for Crusaders shortly after. Stephen Wild then grounded a Luke Robinson kick before Leroy Cudjoe scored a near-identical try soon after. Michael Lawrence, Kevin Brown and Jermaine McGillvary sealed the win with Weller Hauraki grabbing a consolation. News that Brown, the reigning Super League coach of the year, was to remain until the end of the 2011 season broke at half-time. His announcement back in May that he intended to return to his native Australia coincided with a loss of form from the Giants but his decision to stay produced a gritty display by his troops.
Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown: "The decision was made on Friday night, and I'm happy to be staying. "There were some possibilities elsewhere that were discussed. But the decision to stay has been made, and it's the right one. "What's changed is some family issues are not there any more. "We've had a period this season where things have been a bit up and down. But we've taken five out of the last eight points, and we seem to be coming back into form. Crusaders coach Brian Noble: "It was a frustrating afternoon. We'd shown enough wherewithal to get into the right positions to score tries. "We were back in it at 20-12, but then some calls went against us. "The effort was great, but I thought our kicking was poor. It cost us too many field positions."
