Hull FC scored 24 consecutive second-half points to come from behind and beat spirited Castleford at The Jungle.

Tries from centre Kirk Yeaman and full-back Jordan Tansey handed the visitors an early 10-0 advantage.

Tigers then hit back through Stuart Jones, Michael Wainwright and Joe Arundel to lead 16-10 at half time.

But tries from Sean Long, Tom Briscoe, Craig Fitzgibbon and Mark O'Meley put Hull in control before Cas crossed for two late consolation scores.

Hull were made to work hard for their second successive away win, which lifts them above Bradford and Huddersfield as the highest-placed Yorkshire club at fourth in the Super League table.

But there was little sign of the battle they faced on a baking hot afternoon when 33-year-old Long created their two early tries.

First, Long's clever footwork drew two defenders to allow a pass to Tansey, who in turn found Yeaman before Long again fed Tansey for a score under the posts.

But the Tigers capitalised on Hull errors to fight back and take the lead.

Jones exploited a gap left by Fitzgibbon to charge over and Danny Houghton fumbled 30 yards out in the build-up to Arundel's equaliser before Wainwright squeezed over in the corner seconds after the half-time hooter.

Long led Hull's second-half recovery when he caught a loose ball on his own 40-metre line and outran the Tigers defence.

Craig Huby was held up on the line and Long had a try chalked off but Hull regained the lead when Briscoe crossed after a Paul McShane dart.

As the hosts tired Fitzgibbon plunged over and O'Meley had the simple task of touching down Yeaman's kick before Rangi Chase ran the length of the field and Wainwright grabbed his second to give Cas some late solace.

Castleford coach Terry Matterson:
"I thought the game as a spectacle was ruined by the man in the middle and it's not the first time the bloke's ruined it for us.

"I think they should give the fans their money back, not the club but the officials.

"He needs to go and have a look at the rule book. He's got no feel for the game."

Hull coach Richard Agar:
"We've now won three out of four. We've got plenty of improving to do though.

"The players out there today faced a pretty tough task with the energy-sapping conditions.

"We probably got a little bit anxious towards the end but I thought there were some pretty good signs."
