Huddersfield kept up their push for the end-of-season play-offs as they recorded their third straight win to climb back into the top six.

Rod Jensen and Darrell Griffin's early tries set the tone as the Giants tool a 28-6 half-time lead, greatly helped by Clint Greenshields's yellow card.

The Dragons fought harder in the second half, with tries in quick succession from Alex Chan and Adam Mogg.

But Greenshields' second sin-binning on 70 minutes ended the Dragons hopes.

Huddersfield's back-to-back wins over Wakefield and Harlequins resurrected their season, and the Giants maintained their run of form with a well-deserved victory at the Galpharm Stadium.

Jensen opened the scoring with his first try for the club since joining from North Queensland Cowboys, and it was worth waiting for as he went 80m in a memorable solo effort.

Griffin also opened his Giants account soon after, and a Jason Croker score for the Dragons made little impression as it was followed by Shane Elford's double and a powerful effort from Stephen Wild.

Greenshields' first yellow card on 22 minutes made life difficult for his side, but they did respond manfully after the break.

Wild's solo score extended Huddersfield's lead, but a greater share of the possession saw the Dragons grab two tries in three minutes through Chan and Mogg.

But Greenshields got a second spell in the bin for interference at the play-the-ball and the Giants cruised to victory with Chris Thorman rounding off the scoring for his side.

Younes Khattabi had the last word for Catalans, but the result had already been decided.

  • Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp:
"We had a big dip in form, where we were just awful, and lost five out of six games but we have come through it and I am pleased to be back in the top six.

"We now need to maintain that momentum and sustain the good things we have been doing.

"We were not able to play well consistently for the full 80 minutes. Most people in the stadium got a little bit frustrated with the way things went in the second half.

"But we came through it to get the win."

  • Catalans coach Mick Potter:

"Some of the players thought they could have it easy but Huddersfield did a professional job and showed there are no easy games in Super League.

"We made a lot of uncharacteristic errors early on that made it very hard for us. The game was pretty much over before half-time."
