Hull FC claimed their first win of the season after condemning Huddersfield to a fifth straight Super League loss.
Chris Thorman's try and goal gave the Giants a 10th minute lead before Shaun Briscoe responded with a try, converted by Danny Tickle.
Matt Sing's try edged Hull ahead after the break and Paul King extended the lead with Tickle adding the extras.
Thorman grabbed his second try on full-time but the Giants stay rooted to the foot of the table.
Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp "We've had the toughest start in Super League playing all the top teams and the promoted side who were bound to be buzzing.
"That's the reason why we've started slowly. Usually we're quite quick out of the traps but that's more difficult when you have a run of games like this.
"The frustrating thing is that the players have done well for 90% of the time in all our games and we have lost each one only by a score. We know we're not very far away."
Hull coach Peter Sharp "It was a tough game of footie and not very pretty either. But we got the win and we have to be thankful for that.
"It will do the players' confidence the world of good but I think we have to look into the reasons why the opposition always seem to score the first and the last tries in most of our games."
